Your Gryphon/Unicorn Ketubah was inspired from the golden age of ketubah art dating back over 400 years and, as in that halcyon era, as opposed to the current trend of printing with commercial fonts, your ketubah will have been created in the artist's own, unique hand-script.
In Judaism, the number three signifies unity, protection, perfection, and circumscribing the calligraphy is a three-layer protective border.
The outermost layer is a border of interlaced gryphons and unicorns. The unicorn represents strength and purity. The gryphon is the traditional symbol of protection, hope and divine spirit. Within the zoomorphic layer, is the beautiful song "Dodi Li" ("My Beloved"); it has been transcribed into neumes (music of the middle ages). The final, inner layer is of interlaced birds; the bird is not the traditional embodiment of hope, compassion and love.
Ketubot will be in editions, limited worldwide, to 180.
*** The Gryphon/Unicorn Ketubah is available in traditional Orthodox, Conservative and Reform texts.
